The Raion is rich in mineral resources. Natural gas is being extracted since 1994. A liquefied propane and butane plant was put into production in 1998.
Industrial-scale production of oil began in the raion for the first time in Eastern Ukraine in 2000.
Deposits of quartz sand and medicinal mineral water have been discovered but are not operated yet.
