There are nearly 6,000 persons (16.4% of Raion population) involved in all types of physical culture, fitness, and sports activities in the Raion.
Popular sports events are a tradition here. There were more than 100 Raion tournaments in various sports conducted in the Raion in 2002.

Network of physical culture and sports institutions:

two sports schools for children and youth;
track-and-field hall in the city of Valky;
three stadiums;
83 sports grounds;
26 football fields;
11 shooting ranges and galleries;
14 sports halls;
three gyms;
17 fitness centers.

The sports schools for children and youth have about 100 trainees in weight lifting, track-and-field, cross-country skiing, table tennis, football, and chess.
The Valkivsky Raion sportsmen show excellent results not just at regional, but also national and international competitions.

The Valkivchanka women's football team won the 4th place in the Ukrainian 1st League championship out of 18 teams.
The Magarach youth football team from the village of Sharivka won the Oblast Thousand Teams' Tournaments for the Metalist Popular Team Cup. It is showing good results at the Ukrainian championship. The children football team of the Valky school won the regional Kharkiv City Council Cup in 2003.
